One or the other or both???

Can you accept the teachings of both science and religion in regard to the formation of Earth and the explanation of the varied and highly complex organisms today, or must it be one way or the other?

Minimum 4 sentences.

It has to be one or the other. it is well known that science and religion do no mix together very well. so it is no wonder that they have two very different ideas on the formation of the Earth. On some topics, it would be acceptable to accept both of their teachings. You just cannot on this topic.

I think that you can accept both. You don't exactly have to strongly believe in both, but you can still accept both science and religion. I am a Christian and I accept the things that my science teachers taught me and what my pastor has taught me. Therefore, you are able to accept both, it's just that most people usually firmly believe in one or the other.

While some people lean towards religion or science, I think that people can accept both. There is nothing to tell you that you have to completely agree with both, but each side has its own realistic way to explain the organisms here today, and people can agree with both. Take me for example as I have  strong faith in religion but also have no major problems with most ideas that science sets forth. You can accept both ideas for what they suggest about how Earth and organisms form, but most favor only one way.

Religion must be the ways of teaching. In the book of Genesis, we are told how all creatures came to be. God decided how everything would occur and when. All animals and man were created in the first six days of Earth in the Garden of Eden. Woman was made shortly after from Adam's rib.

I believe that although some people only have one-sided views on the formation of Earth and the explanation of the varied and highly complex organisms today by accepting only teachings of religion or science, everyone should be able to accept both ways of learning about evolution. Ever since I was a kid, I have respected the views of my religion, but their beliefs haven't stopped me from wanting to learn more about how science looks at the beginning of the Earth and life. I think that the experience of learning from both a religion and science is very valuable and highly informational. From my personal experience in church and at school, learning about evolution in two completely different environments with different details created a more in-depth understanding of how we all came to be who we are today. I completely understand people who only accept evolution by either religion or science, but when evolution is accepted by people who believe the theories of both those teachings, I believe that they develop a whole new and better view on the world.

Although I do not believe what most scientists say about evolution, I think that you can believe in both. I grew up and still believe that God created the Earth approximately 6,000 years ago, however I still respect the beliefs of others. It is possible for someone to accept aspects of different evolutionary theories. I know many authors who accept parts of several different evolution theories, which I think is perfectly fine, whether or not I agree.

I believe that you can accept both. While you may be leaning more towards one side or the other, you can still accept some concepts from both science and religion. I, personally, believe the teachings of Buddhism. It doesn't mean that I don't see and accept some of the teachings of science. I also see and disagree with some of the teachings of Buddhism. It is very possible to accept both science and religion, but it all depends on the person.

I think that you can accept both. By accepting both you respect both sides of the argument. You can even believe a mix of both like God created the first prokaryotic cell and evolution went on after that. As many people today that think science and religion don't mix and its one way or another there are many others that respect each others beliefs and study them.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Forcing one or the other on someone could be very damaging to their psyche. I, personally, believe in science, and I respect the beliefs of those who believe in the Divine. I do not accept this belief, but that does not necessarily mean that no one else should. Therefore, I do not accept religion, but instead science, though this is only my personal opinion. In my mind, it must be one or the other, in cases involving the past, because science and religion contradict each other. In the modern day, the teachings in religion about kindness, bravery, and other admirable traits can be respected, while the theories of science can also be understood.

That is impossible to do. Science and Religion do not go together. For all I know, Science doesn't even exist. I was taught that it was the lord that made this planet, and any denial to a lord would result in harsh punishment for me. I will continue to believe that god is the sole creator of everything in this very universe.

I believe that it is one or the other. You cannot say that you are a true believer in your religion if you believe the scientific explanation of evolution and how the Earth was formed. How do you say that you believe God created humans and humans evolved from another species? They [science and religion] just don't go together. It would be like wearing crocs with a dress from Louis Vuitton.

I believe both can be accepted but not everyone necessarily needs to believe in both. As a catholic, I believe that God created the world. I also do still believe that humans have evolved, but just not from other animals. I believe that humans have evolved from other humans by learning from the mistakes that  humans made in the past. Humans are always finding ways to make life better.  There is proof of this if you look at the advances in the medical field and the advances in technology. While I believe that humans have evolved and life has gotten better for us, I still believe that it all started with God creating the world.

I believe that both views can be accepted; however, not everyone needs to believe it. As I am not religious, I believe the theory of evolution, but unlike a lot of people, I accept that religion has merit. I do not believe in the divine, but that doesn't mean everybody has to believe in evolution. In fact, learning about each can be valuable, and highly informational. I understand the many people that are strictly religious, or firmly believe in science, but I think that learning about and respecting both science or religion can be beneficial, and help the world (and the internet) a better place.

I think you are able to believe in both if that is what you choose. You may believe in science and religion, but have one side that you are more lenient towards. I believe in science regarding the formation of the Earth, but accept the fact that religion could be another possibility. Even though I strongly believe science, anyone has a choice of what they want to believe. They may believe in either science or religion, or a mixture of the two ideas.

I believe that you must choose one or the other beliefs on this topic. If you try going down the middle then you are not fully supporting your beliefs. If you try to believe in both then you are selling both beliefs short and not giving them your full attention. Also, in believing in 2 separate things at the same time, there will be things that overlap. This will force you to choose a side and the belifs will not alwasy be balanced. I believe that in the end you should be true to what you believe and support it 100%.

I believe a person could believe in both. I believe that ,as the bible states, God created Earth. However, The book of Genesis states that God created Adam and Eve. Therefore, I believe he created Adam and Eve and we have  evolved from them. This being said, someone can be strong in their religion but still believe in evolution in some form.

I believe you can believe in both science and creationism. An example of this would be to believe God started the Big Bang, and therefore created the universe. He created the perfect conditions for life on Earth, and then we evolved from the single-celled bacteria in the beginning. The God who created the world is passive in observing the universe, and hasn't intervened since he started the world. We see no evidence he is here because he is only watching us. Also, heaven and hell could be other universes God made to separate the dead people who were evil in their lifetime from the benevolent humans. There are many ways to merge science and religion into a hybrid theory of how the world was created. This model seems plausible because it solves the problem about how we have no evidence of God and why he never appears (he is only watching us, not taking action). The model also takes into account evolution and the Big Bang.

it cannot be both. me personally, I would not have cared one way or the other, but most people believe strongly in one or the other. this is one of those topics that people would kill each other about. it's their way or no one's way. I do not havean opinion in this but it is  serious subject.

Religion is the only way to explain these perfectly complex organisms. There is no way all these beautiful creatures and how they interact was done by chance. God created this earth perfectly and with amazing creatures. You cannot have a little bit of both because then you would be contradicting both the theories and religions. You can only side with one belief and not meet "in the middle".

Evolution with Religion

Permalink Closed

I believe that they can be mixed. Many people believe that there is a divine origin but then evolution has caused God's organisms to grow and become more complex. Also so people believe that a god caused evolution and all of the Earth's beginning events to happen. There are many theories of religion and science together

It has to be one or the other. There is no in between here. God has to be the creator of these creatures. There's no other way to explain the beautiful and majestic creatures that roam the Earth today. There is no way to have " a few aspects of both" because that would be contradicting both theories.

I believe that we can do a little of both. We can have a perspective from science but also from religion. I am roman Catholic but also have my views in science. WE can obviously have a stronger side, but i believe we should respect both sides.
